Pigmentation treatment with fractional CO2 laser

Carbon dioxide laser (10,600 nanometres) works in pigmentation treatment by resurfacing the skin. Because it heats the skin considerably while doing so, it can trigger pigmentation. For this reason, it should be used with care for spot treatment in people with very fair skin and for lentigo-type sun spots or age spots.

Fractional carbon dioxide laser creates controlled damage in the epidermis (skin surface) and dermis (middle layer of the skin), triggering the body's natural skin renewal mechanism and starting the healing process. It can deliver energy powerful enough to reach the deep layers of the skin. As a result, it can be used both for pigmentation treatment and for other treatments that require skin resurfacing, such as acne scars and incision scars. It should be used with caution in people with dark skin. It is not used in the summer months.
